What inspired you to become a cosmetologist?

“I’ve always liked to do hair since I was a little girl. Beauty and fashion have been a part of my life since I can remember. I was fortunate enough to witness the memorable connection between my mother’s best friend and her clients at a young age and that memory forever stuck with me. Sitting there I would admire the way she moved between her clients. It was like a delicate dance.”

Education has always been important to me. I have had abundant access to education through the years, receiving advanced training with Redken Artists such as Brian Washburn, Sam Villa, Patrick Fitzwater and many others. I have traveled to  New York for the Redken 5th Avenue Exchange, Las Vegas for the Redken Symposium, and other classes in Texas and Florida. With continued education, I help myself stay current, learning the newest trends and business aspects of the trade.

Why did you open Salon Boutique?

I wanted to create more than just a Salon…I wanted to create a culture! After completing my training at Summit Salon Business Center, I had a new focus on what was possible, such as the importance of setting goals for myself as well as my team. It is important to keep growing and to continue pushing boundaries. It keeps me motivated to be the best form of myself! As an owner, mentor, and educational leader, I know that a business cannot be built by only one person. It takes the right team and proper building blocks. It is important for me to exceed my guests'  expectations by consistently delivering promised results. Through education and my own personal desire to be encouraging, I can create clear expectations of what is required,  while respecting the ideas and opinions of my team members. Looking towards the future, I hope and dream to expand into multiple locations or even perhaps add a school.

Celebrity styles I admire:

Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Lopez, Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Lawrence, Jessica Alba and Taylor Swift

If you’re lucky enough to meet someone that believes in your abilities before you realize your own potential, it can be life changing. You may not see it right now, but one day you will look back and remember that one person. When that happens Smile, Be Grateful, and Pay it Forward.
